Artist Statement
Life is a journey.
With every breath we are moving towards our destiny, to be one with the divine.
In that quest!
We exist in bits and pieces in all the places we have been to!
Through this journey, through all the paths crossed, we gather much while also leaving a bit behind. Our thoughts, beliefs, learnings, wisdom, way of seeing, love and lovers who linger through feelings, our trauma, hate – something from each moment becomes a part of our journey. We exist in the scent of the flower that we received with a kiss, in the forest of our wilderness, of memories etched in time, in the sands of the sea and the salt of the waves – places we have once been to.

"Embodying Universe"
"Embodying Universe" - Artist Statement
"Embodying Universe" is a visual symphony that explores the intimate connections between celestial bodies and the corporeal existence. With each frame, we delve into a narrative that transcends the boundaries of our physical world, marrying the vastness of space with the intricacies of human emotion.
Through a tapestry of star-studded skies and interstellar nebulas painted onto the canvas of skin, we invite viewers to a contemplative journey across the universe that resides within us all. The galaxies sprawled across limbs, the constellations nestled in the crooks of elbows, and the astral hues that bathe the human silhouette, speak of a story as old as time — the story of creation, existence, and the enigmatic dance of life. Our lenses, like telescopes, have peered deeply not into the void, but into the richness of the cosmos, bringing forth a series of images that are as much a celebration of human form as they are of the universe. We have traversed through the delicate balance of portraying sensuality with dignity, where each image is a confluence of cosmic mystery and the grace of the human figure.

"A Moment In Meditation" : Artist Statement
A moment in meditation the series captures the deconstruction of thoughts in an inhale-exhale moment during meditation, operating from the centre of the calm, constantly fighting the inner battles of emotions and desire, attaining a moment of stasis.
Meditation has always been a difficult topic understand and visually represent because of its ephemerality. There is a common belief with the word meditation which says closing of eyes and taking a deep breath will calm the mind. A conversation with one's mind is generally not that simple. Many say that they cannot meditate as whenever they close their eyes tormenting thoughts keep rushing in their mind filling it up with fear. And out of my own experience have realised that this is exactly where meditation begins. It is the moment to look at those fears and thank them for invading the mind space, acknowledging their presence and being aware of them. Asserting them as a part of ourselves conquering the fear with love.

Inner work a continuous process. For people dealing with mental health problems, this becomes a difficult fight that they have to endure every day. As artists and as human beings, we ourselves have been trying meditate and keep our minds sane in the times of pandemic where we have to endure social isolation. We started making drawings and sketches of our experiences and arrived at the conclusion that inner work requires to be done every moment when one struggling inside, as it is a continuous ongoing process to make peace with one's thoughts.
Every moment we have the potential within us to pull ourselves up and choose to be calm and as an observer be aware of the thoughts by listening to them and allowing them to have our attention we need to save ourselves from negative emotions and thoughts that lead us to self-loathing, guilt and fear. And that's how we have captured every photo in the series wherein between a single click, the performance artist in the frame counters his own thoughts to strive towards balance. Every photograph depicts that inner work visually. Healthy self = heal thy self.

"Let There Be Light" - Artist Statement
In the primal genesis of our consciousness, light emerges as the harbinger of life, cutting through the void to touch the essence of our being. Our latest thematic exploration, "Let There Be Light," delves into this very cradle of illumination, where shadows are both cast and dispelled, revealing the contours of human existence. Through the lens, we capture the silent conversations between light and shadow, crafting a visual symphony that speaks to the soul's yearnings. The tender curvature of a shoulder, the gentle grace of an outstretched hand, the poignant solitude of a figure enveloped in darkness - each frame is an ode to the delicate dance of visibility and concealment that light so masterfully orchestrates.
In these images, we witness the storytelling prowess of chiaroscuro, where contrast becomes the narrative and each ray of light a character in its own right. Our work is a testament to the power of light to sculpt reality, to shape perceptions, and to evoke the profound emotions that reside in the interplay of luminance and obscurity. As we release "Let There Be Light" into the world, we invite our audience to embrace the nuances of these visual tales. Let them resonate with the ebb and flow of your own stories, and may they ignite a spark that illuminates the depths of your personal landscapes. For in the end, it is light that shapes our vision, and vision that shapes our reality.

"Letting Go - The Surya Namaskar" - Artist Statement
In the alchemy of dawn, the Surya Namaskar unfurls as a sacred dance, embodying the ebb and flow of life itself. "Letting Go - The Surya Namaskar" is our visual paean to this ancient ritual, a sequence of movements that mirrors the celestial journey of the sun. Our frames seek to capture the essence of surrender to the divine cycle of rebirth and renewal. The juxtaposition of human form against the enveloping warmth of light echoes the intimate dialogue between the soul and the cosmos. Each posture is a silent utterance of release, a letting go of that which binds us to the terrestrial, allowing the spirit to soar on the wings of light.
With a palette that resonates with the golden hour, we have attempted to translate the poetry of motion into a narrative that speaks of liberation and transcendence. Our subjects, bathed in the ethereal glow of dawn, are not just figures; they are the embodiment of harmony, balance, and the eternal quest for enlightenment. As you journey through "Letting Go - The Surya Namaskar," we invite you to shed the layers of the mundane, to breathe in the radiance, and to embrace the infinite possibilities that await at the horizon of consciousness.
"Goddess" - Artist Statement
In the ethereal interplay of tradition and modernity, "Goddess" is a visual homage to the divine feminine energy that permeates our culture and consciousness. Through the lens of our cameras, we have tried to capture the very essence of divinity that resides within the strength and grace of womanhood. Draped in the elegance of traditional textiles and adorned with the simplicity of nature's offerings, the subjects stand as modern-day deities, their halos not just ornamental but symbolic of the sacred aura that surrounds every woman. The interplay of light and shadow, the depth of their gazes, and the poise of their stances are our artistic tools to reflect the multiple roles that women embody in the tapestry of life.
This series is a conversation between the viewer and the viewed, inviting introspection on the reverence owed to the feminine, the strength it represents, and the myriad forms in which it manifests. Each frame is a testament to the resilience, beauty, and complexity of the female spirit. With "Goddess," we navigate the nuances of cultural identity, femininity, and power. We invite our audience to witness the embodiment of the goddess in every woman — a timeless narrative that resonates with tales of strength, nurturing, and unconditional love.

"Songs of Radha" - A Photo Essay on Sarojini Naidu's Poem
In the verdant whispers of the forest and the serene stillness of the river, we find echoes of Radha's eternal love for Kanha, as immortalised in Sarojini Naidu's poignant poetry. "Songs of Radha" is our visual homage to this timeless narrative, a photo essay that breathes life into the lyrical yearnings and divine union depicted in Naidu's verses. Each photograph in this series captures the essence of Radha's emotions of longing as she traverses through the natural world, seeking her beloved. The golden hues of her attire stand out against the lush greens of the landscape, symbolizing the light of love that guides her spirit. Her journey is solitary yet universal, a quest that mirrors the soul's search for completion.
This series is a celebration of the fusion of poetry, nature, and the human experience. We have aimed to create images that are not merely seen but felt, inviting the viewer to partake in Radha's odyssey through forests and along riverbanks, to feel the wind's whispers and the warmth of dappled sunlight. Incorporating 'visual poetry,' 'lyrical narrative,' 'emotive photography,' through 'Sarojini Naidu's immortal poem 'Songs of Radha,' we strive to give voice to the silent musings of love and longing. "Songs of Radha" is more than a collection of images—it is a visual sonnet, an ode to the beauty and tragedy of love that is both lost and found.

"As You Remain In Me" : Artist Statement
In the quiet aftermath of departure, the world continues to spin, days lapse into nights, and nature endures in its eternal cycle of rebirth. "As You Remain In Me" is our visual contemplation on the intimate odyssey of the heart, charting the silent metamorphosis through 365 days post break-up. It is a story told not in words, but through the silent growth of trees—nature's stoic scribes.
Trees, in their solitary grandeur, bear the scars and blossoms of time. They are the metaphors we choose to depict the emotional seasons that follow a heart's fracture. Each tree in this series embodies a day; each day, a page in the diary of a soul learning to mend itself. This work is not just about the sorrow of loss but the beauty of endurance and the hope that glistens like morning dew on new leaves. Through this series, we witness the winter of desolation, the spring of introspection, the summer of resurgence, and the autumn of letting go. We invite viewers to immerse themselves in this visual soliloquy of resilience, to find echoes of their own stories in the silhouettes and shadows of our arboreal subjects. Our photographic process is both meditative and instinctive, a dance between the planned and the serendipitous. Just as a tree's roots delve unseen into the earth, our images delve into the unseen corners of post-separation existence, revealing the universal truth that what leaves us never truly departs.
Yaanus Films has always sought to transcend the visual medium, turning the lens inward to the spectrum of human experience. With this series, we continue our pursuit of capturing not just images, but the very essence of being, in all its pain and splendour. We do not create merely to exhibit but to resonate, to strike the chord that vibrates in unison with the soul’s deepest narratives. "As You Remain In Me" is an invitation: to witness, to reflect, and to connect with the perennial stories of love and separation that are written in the annals of human experience, as eternal as the trees that stand witness to the passage of time.
"Your Absence Blooms" : Artist Statement
With "Your Absence Blooms," we delve into the poignant silence that follows loss, where the echo of absence is a presence in itself. This series of monochromatic images captures the stark yet delicate beauty of orchids, each petal a whisper in the void left by a departed presence. In the subtle gradients of light and shadow, we find the contours of memory and longing, the gentle unfurling of grief and grace. The orchid, in its solitary splendor against the void, becomes a metaphor for the resilience of the spirit, the endurance of beauty in the stark face of absence.
Through the medium of black and white photography, we embrace the contrasts and the subtleties, the starkness and the textures, crafting images that are as much about the unseen as the seen. We are reminded that in the absence, in the spaces between, there blooms a quiet understanding, a soft acknowledgment of what once was. In this exploration of absence and presence, of bloom and wilt, we invite the viewer to a contemplation of the enduring beauty that lingers after loss, a silent testament to the power of life and the enduring nature of love.
"Bloom of Life" : Artist Statement
May be life is like this. Some people are meant to be with you and some are just bittersweet lessons. The heart is the only place where one can truly realize this as there is nothing more heartbreaking than a heart where trust has been broken. And at the same time there is also nothing more precious than the people who help you assemble those broken pieces and help you gather love once agin. They are guardian angels. We, mere mortals, our emotions, memories; caterpillars in the bloom of life waiting their turn to become butterflies in the sky.
"Curator of Smiles from India" - Artist Statement
As the creators behind "Curator of Smiles from India," we have embarked on a journey through the vibrant heart of India, documenting the simplest yet most profound expression of humanity: the smile. In this documentary series, we turn our lens to the faces that radiate joy amidst the everyday, to the young and the old who remind us that happiness knows no age.
In every wrinkle, every toothless grin, every twinkling eye, we discover stories untold, wisdom passed down, and futures bright with potential. These black and white portraits are our personal tribute to the enduring spirit of joy that threads through the diverse tapestry of Indian life. They are the silent narrators of contentment, the quiet assurance that even in the fleeting moments of everyday life, there is a reason to smile.
We seek to share with you the authenticity of these captured moments, where each individual becomes an unwitting curator of joy. From the sunbaked streets to the humble abodes, these smiles are our shared human heritage, a universal language that speaks of life's simple pleasures.
Through "Curator of Smiles from India," we aim not just to observe but to celebrate the everyday champions of cheerfulness, the resilient souls who find laughter in the ordinary. This is our homage to the unsung curators of smiles, a heartfelt invitation to find joy in the mundane and share a smile with the world.
"The Sea Inside" - Artist Statement
The sea: a vast expanse of the unknown, a mirror reflecting the skies, a canvas for the play of light and shadow. It is this enigmatic allure of the ocean that we seek to encapsulate in our latest series, "The Sea Inside." This body of work is an ode to the inner tumult and tranquility that the sea stirs within us, the silent narratives that ripple beneath the surface of calm waters.
Our muse, juxtaposed against the immensity of the sea, becomes a solitary figure that speaks volumes of solitude and introspection. Each image, a monochromatic melody, resonates with the whispers of the waves and the untold stories that the sea holds within its depths. The stark contrast of black attire against the soft gradients of the ocean and sky creates a visual dichotomy that is both striking and serene. Through the textural interplay of fabric and nature, "The Sea Inside" explores the symbiosis between human emotion and the natural world. It is a poetic journey through the landscapes of the soul, where each frame is a stanza, each glance a metaphor for the ebb and flow of life's myriad emotions. "The Sea Inside" invites you to peer beyond the horizon, to listen to the whispers of the wind, and to discover the boundless stories that lie waiting in the quiet of the heart.
